Selector Statement
This installation immerses its viewers in a dark sea of glowing raindrops. As they watch, the glow starts to fade and will be recharged only after they leave. The piece was inspired by the artist’s move to Kanazawa, one of the rainiest cities in Japan. Deprived of sunshine, she wanted to change her outlook on the rain. She tried to make herself into a pluviophile (a lover of rain) by thinking of rain as liquid sunshine.
